TRENTON — A shortage of contracts has resulted in the layoff of 32 workers at a Trenton wind farm parts manufacturer.

DSTN spokesman Brad Murray says the employees were given notices this past week.

Murray says DSTN will undergo some in-house maintenance in the near future and company officials hope many employees will be able to work on the projects.

DSTN recently announced it has entered a training and production partnership with Seaforth Energy Inc., a wind turbine manufacturer in Dartmouth.

As part of the agreement, Seaforth Energy will train DSTN staff to manufacture wind tower blades.

Murray says the company hopes the first blades will roll off the assembly line by the end of March.

DSTN has also approached some of its employees about training at a company plant in Korea for a month.

He says the initiative will give them a work and cultural experience that will improve operations at the local plant.
