DALLAS – J.C. Penney plans to cut thousands of jobs nationwide as part of a restructuring.
The Plano-based department store said the layoffs will affect mostly seasonal workers and those involved with reticketing merchandise.
The move is part of a massive overhaul led by new CEO and former Apple executive Ron Johnson.
Johnson’s plan for transforming the company will be outlined later this week at a two-day presentation in New York City.
Earlier this month J.C. Penney lowered its fourth-quarter profit outlook.
